Assignment description and sample topics: To provide students with the
"know-how" regarding academically acceptable AND peer-reviewed research
skills... Students will bring their topics about whch they must do research
about... Students are required to prepare three speeches to be presented in
class: a special occasion, a demonstrations, and a persuasive one...
Students will be able to (check all that apply):
- Develop a search strategy based on their research topics (15 minutes)
- Perform an efficient search of the library catalog for books and other
materials (15 minutes)
- Differentiate between scholarly journals and magazines (15 minutes)
- Construct a query for journal, magazine, or newspaper articles and
evaluate best choices in the results list (25 minutes)
- Physically locate items and other resources (brief library tour ) (15
minutes)
