I will have briefly introduced the Research Literacy Project the week before, and asked students to start thinking about a topic and research question.

Research Step 1 Fall 13.docx:

What are your learning outcomes for this session?
Students explore a range of suitable research topics.
Students differentiate academic from non-academic topics.
Students learn how to broaden or narrow a research question.
Students understand how the Research Literacy Project will help them
throughout their college careers, and beyond.
Students leave with a sense of enthusiasm for the project.
