CA Diversity Movie Night

The ASPCC Diversity Team is holding a weekly movie night in the Underground. Come check out movies and documentaries that you might not see or hear about anywhere else. See all the movies and be entered into a drawing for some kick-butt prizes!

10/10 - The Help: An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.
10/12 - Snow Flower and the Secret Fan: A story set in 19th century China and centered on the lifelong friendship between two girls who develop their own secret code as a way to contend with the rigid cultural norms imposed on women.
10/24 - Reel Injun: The history of the depiction of Native Americans in Hollywood films.
11/7 - Red Tails: A crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee Training Program, having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard.
11/14 - Tsotsi: Six days in the violent life of a young Johannesburg gang leader.
11/21 - Paris is Burning: A chronicle of New York's drag scene in the 1980s, focusing on balls, voguing, and the ambitions and dreams of those who gave the era its warmth and vitality.
11/28 - Precious Knowledge: Disenfranchised high school seniors become academic warriors and community leaders in Tucson, Arizona's embattled Ethnic Studies classes while state lawmakers attempt to eliminate the program.
