Assignment description and sample topics: Students will have in hand a
proposal for a research topic, and will be working on an annotated
bibliography. The final project will be a research essay investigating a
topic related to Into the Wild, such as voluntary simplicity, wilderness as a
catalyst for spiritual renewal, or wilderness adventurers.

What are your learning outcomes for this session? I would like the students
to be able to try out search strategies for their topics; differentiate
between reliable and not-so-reliable websites; and find articles related to
