9TR611C Tropical Birding in Costa Rica: Info Session
April 16 - 25, 2015. Costa Rica is a land of volcanoes, cloud forests, beaches and some of the world's great bird watching opportunities. Join a local naturalist in search of aviafauna from coast to coast.
In Tortuguero, only reachable by boat or air and sustained by eco-tourism, we will explore the canals in search of water birds and four species of sea turtles. As we travel to the Pacific Coast we will visit La Fortuna at the base of the Arenal volcano, view a butterfly garden, walk in Volcano National Park, and relax in hot springs. On the Pacific Coast we will walk in the rainforest of Manuel Antonio National Park and search for some of the park's 184 bird species. Heading back inland to Cerro de la Muerte, we walk in this lush cloud forest and perhaps catch a glimpse of the famed resplendent Quetzal. Who knows we may also get a glimpse of monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, and even poison frogs. $1,795 (approximate) includes in-country transportation, accommodations, meals, entrance fees, and naturalist guide. Does not include airfare, airport taxes, tips, and personal expenses.
