Examines the social, political, economic and cultural developments of the United States from 1840 to 1914. Includes: the Women's Rights Movement, Manifest Destiny, the U.S.- Mexican War, slavery, abolitionism and the growing sectional crisis between the North and South, Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, Reconstruction, westward migration and its impact on Native Americans, America's overseas empire, and the Progressive Era. History courses are non-sequential and may be taken in any term and in any order. Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores.
