Understand how nutrient intake/deficiency injures cells/tissues, and body response for repair. Covers symptoms of lack, excess, impaired metabolism and consequences of American diet. Supplements, herbs, medicinal food products, extracts and fractionated products examined. Focus on digestive, immune & cardiovascular system.

Course meets online 2-4pm PST (office hours online 4:30-5:30pm) or 5:30-7:30pm PST (office hours online 8-9pm).

Study the consequences of pathology, how it can be applied to health maintenance, acute and chronic conditions, compliance and efficacy. Symptoms of insufficiency, excess and impaired metabolism for each system, and integrated nutritional therapy. Online courses require that students have basic to intermediate computer savvy, and are skilled in personal discipline, task organization and time mgmt. Students should expect to invest a minimum of 2/3 hrs of study for every hour of lecture in order to be successful in this course.
