From the Instructor:
This class is one of a two part class that meet the requirement for National Activity Professional Certification by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals. GRN 265 is now a 6 week class, so it would be possible for a student to complete both part one and two in the same term (GRN 266 could be completed in the second 6 week session of the same term). Most students find this an interesting and productive learning experience as they are doing work that is directly related to future employment. The 7 assignments/practicums provide not only real life /time experience but also provide excellent employment portfolio examples of on the job experience. Text for this class are Long Term Care for Activity Professionals, Social Service Professionals and Recreational Therapist and the Professional Activity Manager and Consultant - These two texts will also be used in Part II / GRN 266. Many of you will want to keep these text in your professional library for reference throughout your career. For GRN 266 you will also need the Management books by Hitt. There are The Leader-Manager, Management in Action and Ethics and Leadership. These books can be purchased used thru Amazon, as our Bookstore was not able to secure them at this time. More information will be available in class announcements for Book Numbers and Resources.
