Introduces the administration of systems utilizing the Linux operating system. Focuses on knowledge and skills necessary for day-to-day operations on a Linux system using the command line. Course Specific Requirements:
This Course requires that students have access to a computer system where they can install the Linux operating system. They have three choices for the system they use. 1. They can contact the instructor and request to check out a disk drive that can be used in the CIS Lab systems (Sylvania Campus, TCB building, room 308). 2. They can perform a bare bones install on a laptop or desktop system they own. This option permits setting up a dual boot system. It is recommended the system have at least 1GB of RAM and 16GB of free disk space. 3. They can use a virtualization application such as VirtualBox to install Linux as a Guest OS on an existing Host OS, such as Microsoft Windows or Mac OS. It is recommended the system have at least 4GB of RAM and 16GB of free disk space.
