This introductory course provides clinicians the latest information on anatomy and physiology of the skin; prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers; assessment and documentation of wounds, factors affecting healing, wound bed preparation and wound treatment options. Participants will know the three phases of wound healing, be able to identify at least three interventions to reduce external mechanical forces to the skin, understand the purpose of ongoing patient assessment and the legal/clinical implications of wound documentation.
