Lentils are protein rich and contain cholesterol-lowering fiber. They're a mainstay in India because they're versatile, quick and affordable. Come learn to make a variety of delicious Indian lentil dishes and savory crepes. 

In India, lentils (dals) are the mainstay of a diet that is mainly vegetarian. In this series of 3 classes you will be introduced to a variety of lentils and spices that are used to prepare tasty and healthy dishes from around India.

Class 1: Covers nutritional background, description and visual identification of different lentils. Learn a number of easy-to-follow vegetarian recipes using lentils along with vegetables in season.

Class 2: We'll choose two of the most commonly used lentils in India and prepare a selection of vegetarian specialities from around India. You will also learn about spices and herbs that are used to prepare these dishes.

Class 3: We'll talk aobut lentils other than dals. Using lentil flours, we'll make tasty savory treats such as pakoras (vegetable fritters), vadas (ground lentils) and adai (savory crepes) with accompanying fresh chutneys.
