This course provides fundamental training/review in IV Therapy techniques; standards of practice; math calculation practice; identification and understanding of veins, catheters, central lines, implanted ports, complications and their reduction. At the end of the ten modules you will understand issues of the skin related to IV insertion and care; be able to identify appropriate veins, catheter size, flow rates, and complications; understand techniques for one and two handed IV starts; know the different types of central lines and their care and maintenance; be able to perform basic IV math calculations and verbalize steps to access implanted ports; know proper flushing standards of practice and reduce CLABSIs. Once you complete the online course, you may register for IV Therapy Intensive, CEU 3326, for a classroom hands-on skills training. Cost for IV Therapy Intensive is $134. Only students who have successfully completed the Online course may register.
