An introduction to an overview of creating physical and social environments and curriculum for children six weeks to six years in home or center-based programs. Course covers theories and relationships between physical and social space, activities, experiences, and materials. Students are introduced to the use of developmentally and culturally appropriate practices in planning, selecting, and evaluating environments and curriculum for young children.   • Field Work: Students are required to complete classroom observations. Students can find a site on their own, or request time at the PCC Lab school to complete the observation assignments.

Course requires approximately 5 hours of observation in an Early Childhood setting along with a 2 family interviews to complete assignments.
