This comprehensive 10 week course, provides the student with knowledge of the legal, professional and administrative roles of technicians; familiarity with commonly used drugs, classes, mechanisms of actions and therapeutic uses. Medical terminology with anatomy and physiology concepts is also presented. Basic to advanced prescription, compounding and IV additive calculations are incorporated in a quickly paced intensive learning environment. Students who have an understanding of basic algebraic principles for solving word problems using equations and who have completed some basic sciences would be most suited for this class. This program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Texts required.
