CEU915E Basic PICC Management: Insertion and Care

This course will cover PICC fundamentals as well as hands-on insertion techniques. Day 1 will cover legal considerations, venous access device selection, vascular anatomy and physiology, infection control, PICC insertion preparation and techniques, modified seldinger technique (including hands on practice) with ultrasound guidance, insertional and post insertional complications. Day 2 will include advanced concepts such as complicated patient and device selection, infection considerations, thrombus management, occlusion management, catheter exchange, troubleshooting, and more hands on practice. Students must sign a consent form to permit insertion of peripherally inserted catheters.
