Introduces basic chemical principles and computational problems. Provides a foundation for future chemistry courses for or students who have no chemical background and those with minimal problem solving skills. Prerequisite: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 65 or equivalent placement test scores. Recommended: Students who have completed or are concurrently enrolled in MTH 95 should consider enrolling in CH 104. Course Title: General Chemistry Course Number: CH 100 Credit Hours: 4 for Lecture and Lab
Course Description
Chemistry 100 is a one term introductory chemistry class for students who are interested in the subject or need it for their degree. It also helps to prepare the student for successful entry to general college chemistry courses. This course is designed for students who have no chemical background and those with minimal problem solving skills. Covers selected basic chemical principles and computational problems found in first-year, 100-level chemistry courses. The students will follow the lessons, do homework, take examinations, and perform the laboratory assignments all from home. Expect to spend at approximately 15 hours per week studying and doing assignments for this class.

A. Required Text: Introductory Chemistry (custom edition) by: Nivaldo Tro, ISBN:9781256147008
B. Required: Online homework access code for Mastering Chemistry (available bundled with the text)
C. Required: Scientific calculator, you don't need a graphing calculator, but make sure that your calculator performs exponential notation and does logs.
D. Required: Lab kit purchased through: http://www.labpaq.com/ The price for the lab kit (CK-PCC-100) will be approximately $169 plus shipping.
Each student is required to purchase a new lab kit. Only the original purchaser is covered under our liability plan and to participate in this fully online chemistry class and do the labs at home, you must be covered. Be prepared to submit your purchase order so that we can verify that you have a new kit.
All labs will be done at home and there will be no need for you to come to campus.
