Focuses on academic writing as a means of inquiry. Uses critical reading, discussion and the writing process to explore ideas, develop cultural awareness and formulate positions. Emphasizes development of a variety of strategies to present evidence in support of a thesis. Prerequisite: Placement into WR 121, or completion of WR 115 and RD 115. From the Instructor:
English composition is a start point for successful writing across multiple disciplines in the academic environment. WR 121 has specific goals and objectives and inquiry, analysis, and research are essential components in this class. Discussions and group cooperation are also a key components of successful course completion.
Course Specific Requirements:
Students will compose four formal papers and complete an annotated bibliography. Weekly discussion board participation and quizzes are required in the course as well.
