Federal Work-Study Orientation
Types of Work-Study positions
On-Campus Jobs
Work-Study positions are available at Sylvania, Cascade, Rock Creek, Downtown Center and the Southeast Center. Many departments hire for a variety of different positions such as office assistant, lab assistant, or hire students as math, reading or language tutors. There are also positions available in maintenance and facilities, childcare, and student leadership. When considering a job, it’s a good idea to find a position that relates to your major or personal interests. For instance, if you are an art major, you can pursue a position in the ceramics or photography labs working closely with instructors and helping other students. If you are someone who loves working with children and think you may want to go into teaching, you can apply for a position reading to children at a grade school (America Reads Program) or working in the PCC Early Childhood Education Department. If you are undecided about a major and are currently working on general education requirements, you may be interested in working in one of the PCC libraries or gaining skills as an office assistant.
The pay rates for on-campus positions correspond to the level of skill required for each position. The current pay levels are:
- Level 1- $8.80 per hour
- Level 2- $9.05 per hour
- Level 3- $9.30 per hour
