Federal Work-Study Program
Please Note:
- There will be no work-study hiring Spring or Summer term 2008.
- Work-study hiring will resume Fall term 2008.
The Federal Work-Study program provides employment opportunities both on and off campus for students who meet eligibility requirements and who are enrolled for at least 6 credits. You may earn up to the amount listed term-by-term on your Award Notification letter. Before you begin employment you must complete an orientation session and required paperwork. Orientation may be completed online or in person. Please note that once you complete the orientation you may begin contacting supervisors for interviews, but you cannot obtain an Employment Authorization Form and begin working before the first day of the term. This information will also be made available at each campus financial aid office.
How to Participate
- Determine that you were awarded Federal Work-Study.
- Work-Study (FWS) funds are part of a financial aid award. You must review your financial aid award to find out if you were awarded work-study funds. You can review your award online at My PCC under My Records, Student and Financial Aid. In order to be awarded work-study, you must indicate on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that you are interested in Work-study, be an early FAFSA applicant and have financial need. Please keep in mind that in order to participate in the work-study program you must be enrolled in six credits or more each term and be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Complete the Work-Study Orientation.
- Once you have determined that you have work-study funds, you must complete our online orientation. Online orientation is available 2 weeks prior to the beginning of each term through the 4th week of the term. At the end of the online orientation there will be a list of documents for you to print out that includes a W4 Form, a Payroll Direct Deposit Form (optional), and an Orientation Completion Form. Please bring the forms to any PCC Financial Aid Office to be reviewed by a Financial Aid Technician starting on the first day of the term (do not put the forms in the drop box or mail them). Once the forms are submitted, you will be given an Employment Authorization form. You can now start looking for a job!
- Find a Work-Study position.
- Our database of on-campus and off-campus jobs are available on-line starting September 8th for Fall term 2008. Students can also review job listings by checking out a job book at any PCC Financial Aid Office, or at any PCC Library. You can choose a job that interests you and, if possible, relates to your major or future career goals. Contact the supervisor for an interview and get hired! You must present the Employment Authorization Form to your supervisor for completion.
