Application Steps

  1. Make sure you are admitted to PCC. If you are unsure, call 503-977-4519.
  2. If you do not already have a PIN (Personal Identification Number), apply for one now at www.pin.ed.gov. Your PIN will allow you to electronically sign your FAFSA.
  3. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the FAFSA.
  4. List PCC as a recipient of the data. Our code is 003213.

Tips for Completing the FAFSA

File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as early after January 1st, prior to the school year. Early filing ensures the most possible aid from all federal and state sources.

Some applicants find it helpful to fill out the Pre-Application Worksheet before going to the online FAFSA. These are available at any PCC financial aid office.

Make sure your name appears the same as it does on your Social Security Card.

Some applicants find it helpful to have their most recent tax return(s) available while completing the online FAFSA. If you are unmarried, under the age of 24 or do not have children, you will also need parent information.

Remember to submit the FAFSA when you finish. Click on 'Submit my FAFSA now'.

Print a copy of the confirmation page for your records after you have submitted your FAFSA.

What Happens After You File?

  1. You will receive acknowledgement after filing your FAFSA. You may then go to the FAFSA website and review all your answers to see if they are correct. You may also make corrections if necessary.
  2. When PCC receives your record, we will request follow-up information. Be sure to respond quickly to any inquiries sent to you from PCC.
  3. When everything is complete, you will receive a formal Award Letter listing all the aid you will be eligible for. This aid is held for you until college begins.
