Testing Centers are located throughout the PCC district and provide professional testing services to the school and community. Depending on the site, Testing Centers provides the following services:
- Placement Tests
PCC uses Placement Testing to determine students’ academic skill level for appropriate course placement. Most new PCC students are required to take the Placement Test to determine their skills in reading, writing and mathematics. Placement test scores can demonstrate satisfaction of prerequisite, or required skill levels for enrollment in many PCC courses.
- Proctored (Make-Up) Exams
A Proctored Exam is a test taken under the supervision of testing staff. The proctor’s function is to ensure procedural integrity and security of the exam in a secure environment. All PCC Campuses and the Southeast Center provide make-up exam proctoring for PCC students. Depending on the site, Testing Centers may also be able to proctor exams for non-PCC students.
- Accommodated Testing
PCC Testing offers an optional Accommodated Testing service to assist faculty in providing the accommodations approved by a Disability Services Counselor. Accommodations may include:
- an aide to read and/or transcribe (write) the test
- extended time (“unlimited time” is not available)
- a distraction-reduced site
- special equipment (such as a word processor or CCTV)
- a raised workspace
