Be the Change for Student Success!

Join the cause at District In-Service

In Oregon and nationwide, community colleges have been tasked with building a stronger focus on completion and outcomes in addition to student access to education. At PCC, we have already begun to respond – developing new programs and services, changing processes and building new facilities to better serve our students and support their success – but there's still work ahead, and each of us needs to play a part. Join us at this year's District In-Service to learn how you can "be the change" for student success at PCC, and hear from nationally acclaimed speaker Richard Gerver as he discusses the changing role of education in today's world.

Success in the New Education Age

Keynote Speaker Richard Gerver

Richard Gerver

Richard Gerver is the guest speaker for PCC's biggest staff and faculty event.

PCC welcomes renowned educator, author and innovator Richard Gerver as our In-Service keynote speaker. Gerver will explore the role of education in a rapidly changing world, the challenges we face, and the adaptations we need to make in order to empower our students and prepare them for success.

Gerver began a teaching career in 1992 and quickly established a reputation as a leader in education. In 1997, he was recognized as one of the most outstanding teachers in Great Britain, and in 2005, he won the prestigious "School Head Teacher of the Year Award" at the British National Teaching Awards for transforming a school on the brink of closure into one of the most innovative schools in the world.

Gerver served as an adviser on education policy to Tony Blair's Government and co-founded The Curriculum Foundation, an organization that helps schools and authorities around the world develop education systems that reflect current challenges for students. He is also an author whose book on education transformation, Creating Tomorrow's Schools Today, was a global best-seller.

Following the In-Service program, Richard Gerver will sign copies of his book, Creating Tomorrow's Schools Today: Education - Our Children - Their Futures, until 12pm in the HT Gym.
