What We Do

Solar Oregon is a nonprofit organization which provides education and community outreach encouraging Oregonians to choose solar energy. We serve as a connector and source of information for Oregon’s solar community.

Opportunities for service with us

Renewable Energy Classroom Assistant

Teach renewable energy lessons to 4th-6th grade students and introduce kids to scientific principles, renewable energy and energy conservation concepts.  Lessons are all hands on and include activities such as solar car racing, building wind turbines, and testing insulation materials. This is a great opportunity for students to use their skills in education, renewable energy, engineering, building science or related fields.

Time Commitment: 1-2 times a week preferred, 3-6 hours.  Program runs February-May.  Students with more limited availabilty can still apply.

For a list of participating schools, schedule information, and volunteer training and application materials, please contact Emily Krafft, Solar Oregon Education Coordinator, at emily@solaroregon.org or 503-231-5662.  More information is on our website at http://solaroregon.org/k-12/k-12.
