What We Do

Our services help individuals, families, and communities. From victims of domestic violence to at-risk youth, from seniors trying to maintain dignity to men and women desiring to overcome substance abuse, our programs reach a wide network of children and families, those who need and deserve nurturing, education and support, as well as a higher quality of life.

Opportunities for service with us

Volunteer to change a life, starting with yours!  Our direct service & support positions enable you to put your passion to work addressing poverty, neglect, addiction, and isolation affecting children, families, and seniors in your community!  

We offer extensive orientation, one-on-one training & supervision, and a variety of opportunities to use and develop your skills.  We are also open to creating new positions to fulfill your internship and practicum requirements.

Some volunteering opportunities are:

Trauma-Informed Child Interventionist:
Support children up to 12 years old for drop-in childcare. Gateway. Weekday mornings and afternoons. 3+ month commitment

Bus Buddy / Classroom Assistant:
Support children up to age 5 who are at risk of abuse or neglect and receiving services through our Family Relief Nursery. Inner and outer SE Portland. Weekday mornings and early afternoons. 6+ month commitment required.

Youth Activity Coordinator:
Build relationships with school-aged children and youth living in low income housing through our afterschool activities and support groups. Various locations from N Portland to Fairview. Weekday late afternoons. 6+ month commitment preferred.

Domestic Violence Advocate:
Assist survivors through the hotline, child support groups, or restraining order advocacy. Multnomah County Courthouse and various locations. Weekdays. 40 hour training offered 1-2 times a year. 6+ month commitment required.

Senior Activity Assistant:
Bring connection and new experiences to elders accessing day services through assisting with mealtime, crafts, gardening, music, and tai chi. Flexible weekdays. 3 month commitment.

Residential Counselor:
Ensure safety and support for men or women on probation / parole and accessing residential addictions treatment. Inner SE Portland locations. Shifts available 7 days a week. 6 month commitment preferred.

Culinary Assistant:
Assist with meal prep for Catering for a Cause. Near Lloyd Center. Shifts available 7 days a week. Short-term commitment available.
