What We Do

Southwest Watershed Resource Center (WRC) inspires awareness and action on behalf of watershed health at the neighborhood level in SW Portland.  The WRC is a partnership of Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc, the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, West Multnomah Soil & Water.  We develop and implement partnerships and projects with an eye to neighborhood, equity, water quality and ecological benefits.

Opportunities for service with us

The WRC has many opportunities to enhance your understanding of ecology/environmental science through the lenses of community organizing, communications, and watershed restoration!

Opportunities include:

  • internships (academic term or year, e.g. Students in Service);
  • short-term projects such as culturally specific outreach programs, project designs/planting plans, website content and social media, youth education programs, graphic design, GIS database development, or Watershed Volunteer Committee;
  • one day events such as outreach to educate community members on best practices to improve watershed health, assessment of community needs and opportunities, or work parties to implement on-the-ground restoration projects.
