What We Do

We provide reception and support services for refugees and immigrants that support successful integration into American society while maintaining the respect and dignity of each individual and their unique culture and traditions.

Opportunities for service with us

Long Term commitments (6-8 months):

Cultural Navigator

Meet weekly with a recently-arrived refugee family to provide cultural orientation, friendship, advocacy, English language practice and support as they settle into the Portland community.

ESL Teacher

Work with our partner agency, People-Places-Things, to provide English language instruction to refugees and immigrants twice weekly. No experience required, training provided.

Short Term commitments (3-6 months):

Housing Support

Research and complete wait list applicants for supported housing, working with refugee staff and refugee clients when they first arrive in Portland.

Apartment set-up

Work, as needed, with the Resource Coordinator to furnish and set up apartments for arriving refugees.
