What We Do

Resident Services is affiliated through Catholic Charities whose mission is “Providing Help, Creating Hope.”

Our Resident Services programs offers educational support to refugee children and adults in an affordable housing community.  We provide on-site support to the residents at buildings/apartment complexes owed by Catholic Charities.

At Kateri Park, we house a large proportion of refugee families, primarily from East Africa (Somalia and Ethiopia), but also from Asia (Nepal and Burma).

We use volunteers as Homework Helpers for refugee kids, as Tutors, as Art Class instructors or helpers, as ESL instructors or helpers, and as preschool teachers and preschool classroom assistants.  Volunteers usually come for 2-3 hours a week, sometimes more. We encourage volunteers to serve for at least a term, building long-term relationships with our residents and their children.
