What We Do

Bienestar de La Familia (Well-being of the Family) Social Services provides culturally specific and linguistically appropriate case-management, information and referral, service linkage, coordination and resource recruitment to address the needs of the Latino community. The social service program is sited in the Baltazar Ortiz Community Center in the Cully neighborhood. Last year the social service program served over 500 children, adults and parents in order to impact poverty, promote family stability, support academic success and assist families to meet basic living needs. Bienestar staff effectively functions as a multi-disciplinary team with members from mental health/addictions, healthcare services and community partner, Hacienda CDC.

Opportunities for service with us

There are numerous volunteer opportunities with Bienestar de la Familia including:

  • Child development and child care
  • Youth leadership programs
  • Employment workshops such as writing resumes & cover letters, conducting job searches
  • Misc activities including assisting families at monthly mercados (produce market), teaching English classes, assist in running support groups and many more
