The student book exchange takes place three times a year, during the first week of term-except summer term. The book exchange is a great way to get cheap textbooks and save money!
How we sell books:
You bring your book(s) to us that you would like to sell. The earlier you get your books in, the greater the chance that they will sell. You and a ASPCC staff member will fill out a short form with your contact details and the price you want to sell for each book. We handle the selling of the book. It costs you $1.00 to list a book. Sets count as one book.
For example:
If you gave us a Math 95 textbook and Solutions Manual and would like to sell it as a set, it would be $1.00. On the other hand, if you gave us a Math 95 textbook and Solutions Manual and would like to sell it as two separate books, it will be $2.00.
You'll receive a receipt after we have taken your books which you will need to get either your money if they’ve sold or your books back if they haven't sold.
How you buy books from us:
We will be selling books outside of our ASPCC window. The lists of books available will be outside the window. We will try to have book lists from other campuses also if they are available. Please check the list before you step up to the window, it is difficult to find the book you want otherwise. All books are identifiable through a tracking number which is the number on the very left of the list. We try and keep the list as up-to-date as possible, but sometimes books will have sold but still be listed. We cannot change prices on books in the book exchange, because the prices are set by the students that give us their books.
Tell us the number of the book you'd like, and we will find it for you if it is still available. You can then take a look at it and decide to buy it. We only accept cash and we don't offer refunds, so please have cash on hand and be sure you know which books you need for which class. If you have any questions, ask a staff member on hand!
Why use the book exchange?
The PCC Bookstore is a great place for school supplies and new textbooks, but you make only a small portion of money back if you participate in the book buyback, typically half of the used price. For example, a $100 textbook would bring you maybe only $15-20 at the buyback.
Textbooks often sell for very competitive prices at the book exchange. You may be able to recover almost the full price of a textbook, this is the case for expensive AP books as well as Math books, but other subjects as well. Usually, you will make significantly more money than at the Bookstore Buyback.
We have used textbooks even when the bookstore has run out!
Used textbooks at the bookstore are in limited supply-most of the time, you will not be able to still get a used book after school has started. We sell used books for all classes for the entire first week of term!
Also, all of the money you pay goes directly to a fellow PCC student, not a company. Support your school, support your fellow students!
