Professional Organizations

ASPCC belongs to several professional organizations that provide leadership training, opportunities to meet peers in similar positions at other institutions, and the lobbying leverage that can only happen with large numbers of organized students.

The Association of College Unions International (ACUI)

ACUI

The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) is a worldwide organization of students and staff working in the area of student union activities and programs at two-year and four-year colleges and universities. Region 14 is composed of colleges in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Student leaders are encouraged to attend the annual fall regional conference to network with some of the outstanding professionals and students in our region. Students can also apply for I-LEAD, the International Leadership Conference. ACUI provides resources and "how-to" books for student activities and operations, as well as regional and international competitions in recreation and College Bowl. ACUI and partner organizations created the “Stop the Hate” campus hate crime prevention program for colleges.

The American Student Association of Community Colleges (ASACC)

The American Student Association of Community Colleges is a legislative group of two-year colleges throughout the United States. They send the Student Senate a newsletter of current pertinent information, and they meet as a group at a national conference in Washington, DC to plan strategies and lobby for student concerns.

The Oregon Community College Student Association (OCCSA)

OCCSA website

The Oregon Community College Student Association (OCCSA) is the organization that ties together all the two-year colleges in Oregon. The student body presidents meet during the year to learn leadership techniques, deal with statewide issues, share ideas, and seek solutions to common problems. OCCSA has been active in representing the student voice of Oregon by lobbying on behalf of students to the state legislature.

The United States Student Association (USSA)

United States Student Association (USSA) is the only student lobby with an office in Washington, DC. It is an advocacy group that voices our concerns on issues affecting access to education - financial aid, campus safety, civil rights, tax laws, voter registration reform, and other issues.
