PSY - Psychology Instructor Qualifications

 

Psychology faculty must have a Master’s Degree or a PhD/PsyD in Psychology, or a Master’s Degree or PhD/PsyD in a related field which includes at least thirty hours of graduate psychology credits.  Examples of related fields include the following:

Counseling
Counseling Psychology
Educational Psychology
Social Ecology
Social Work
Marriage and Family Therapy
Cognitive Science
Experimental Psychology
Cognitive Psychology
Neuroscience
Human Sciences
or other APA-approved graduate program in psychology

There may be exceptions for special topic classes, as specified by the SAC. 

In making course assignments, administrators should consider the instructor’s academic background, expertise, and professional experience with the goal of matching instructor qualifications to the specific course assignment.
