DA – Dental Assisting Instructor Qualifications

DA Instructor

  1. Valid and current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential issued by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)
  2. Oregon Radiology Proficiency*
  3. Oregon Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)*
  4. Oregon Expanded Function Orthodontic Dental Assistant (EFODA)*
  5. Oregon Sealant Certificate*
  6. Oregon Temporary Soft Reline for Denture Certificate*
  7. Baccalaureate degree in any field
  8. Clinical Experience of 5 years in a FT position either as a general chair-side assistant, dental hygienist or as a clinical instructor.
  9. Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS
  10. Current immunization records: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB Test, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Influenza, COVID-19 Vaccination

*A dental hygiene license or dentist license could substitute for the dental assisting certificate.

Related Instruction

For DA courses in which Related Instruction is embedded, instructor must have

  • Evidence of recent continuing education in the areas of
    • team building and/or dental practice management skills (Human Relations and Communication)
    • dental materials manipulation and fabrication of impressions, temporary crowns, and study casts (Computation)
  • Experience in curriculum design, teaching or training (Human Relations)
