At our December 12th meeting, the Policy Committee proposed to recommend to the EAC that PCC adopt a prerequisite of placement into Writing 115 and Math 60 for courses on the Gen. Ed. and A & B lists of the AAOT and a recommendation of Writing 121-readiness for success in these courses.

If it is all right with the Council, the Policy Committee would like to seek college-wide feedback on this proposal, since it is revised from the earlier version we received feedback on in spring.

For discussion:  The Policy Committee was asked to review the current 5-year competency rule for graduation in Writing and Math.  After some discussion, the Committee decided that the rule could be extended to 7 years, whether or not the student had satisfied the competency requirement when completing a previous degree.

We are seeking the thoughts of the EAC on this.  If the Council decides a change of any sort might be a good idea, the Math and Writing SACs will need an opportunity to offer their recommendations, possibly at their Winter SAC meetings.
