About PCC
PCC
is a two-year college with several major campuses and a number of satellite
locations. It offers programs in a
metropolitan area covering 1,500 square miles. PCC enrolls about 100,000
students annually. The College employs approximately 3,000 faculty, staff, and
administrators. The curriculum
includes vocational programs, community education, academic transfer courses,
and classes in basic skills. Distance delivered courses are increasing rapidly. The College has an open admissions policy.
Credits from other institutions may be accepted toward degree
requirements. PCC has grown substantially over the past decade and expects
continued growth in enrollment over the next five years.
The PCC Foundation was
established in 1982 as a nonprofit corporation to solicit private support for
the College. The Foundation is linked with PCC through the development office,
which provides staff support for fund raising efforts.
PCC
has an annual budget of over $365,000,000 from a variety of sources.
The funding is derived primarily from property tax support, state
reimbursement, tuition, grants, and contracts. In November 2000, a $144-million
bond measure was approved, giving the College funds for capital improvements to
take it through the next decade.
Although
PCC addresses the needs of a well-defined district, the College is increasing
its relationship with those who are beyond the metropolitan area.
For example, PCC participates in electronic links among regional
libraries and has established joint admission and instructional programs with
Oregon State University, Portland State University, and the Oregon Institute of
Technology. Approximately
one million people live in the greater Portland area.
A
locally elected Board of Directors governs the College.
The Board of Directors appoints the District President.
There are one Vice President and two associate Vice Presidents, and three
Campus Presidents.
The Campus Presidents leads each of the College's major campuses.

PCC
Values Statement, adopted as Board Policy by the PCC Board of Directors.
