Program Eligibility

Attention:

Students applying to the Radiography Program for Fall 2013 admission are highly encouraged to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) in early January, 2013. Please visit PCC's financial aid website for more information.

All applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for program application and selection:

  1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  2. Complete the prerequisites listed in the Radiography Program Advising Guide before the application deadline.

Criminal Background and Drug Screening

Applicants must be advised that if selected into the Radiography Program, they must successfully pass both a criminal background check and drug screen. The hospital affiliates will not allow any student into clinical without successful completion of both tests. Information concerning the Criminal Background Check process will be made available through the program's office, Room 306 in the HT building, Sylvania campus. If you have specific concerns or questions please contact the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Application

Applications for the 2013-2015 Radiography Program will be accepted between February 1 and April 1, 2013. We will not accept any applications submitted before February 1, 2013. All application materials must be received by the Health Admissions office by 5pm on April 1, 2013. Late application materials and/or applications and materials postmarked on April 1 but received in the Health Admissions Office after the 5pm deadline will not be accepted.

All first-time applicants to the radiography program must submit official, sealed transcripts (other than PCC transcripts) with their program application to the Health Admissions Office, even if previously submitted to PCC. Transcripts submitted to the Health Admissions Office separate from the application will not be accepted. Application materials submitted after April 1, 2013 at 5pm will not be considered and will render your application ineligible. Other PCC departments, including Student Records, will not be able accept radiography application transcripts. Students only need to submit transcripts from institutions where a prerequisite course, degree, or other course pertaining to the application, was completed.

When applying, please submit the following items:

  • PCC admissions application
  • Radiography application form
  • Official, sealed college transcripts (other than PCC)
    • Transcripts are subject to review for transferability
    • Please review the transcript policy above
  • Statement of Computer Literacy Form (included with the Radiography Application)
  • Non-refundable $40 application fee, made payable to PCC Radiography Program
  • One page, single spaced, typed essay response to the supplemental essay question

Additional Recommendation

Applicants are encouraged to research and gain health care experience by volunteering or working in the health care industry, preferably in a clinical setting to gain knowledge of professional duties and responsibilities. Visit www.asrt.org and www.arrt.org for more information.

Important Notice for all Potential 2013-2015 Radiography Applicants

After initial review of science prerequisite grades and overall GPA, the top students will be invited to attend the clinical interview portion of the selection process. The second week of April, Radiography Applicants will be notified by mail whether they were selected for the interview portion of the selection process.

Students selected to take part in the clinic interview will be required to attend a mandatory afternoon orientation on Thursday, April 18, 2013 or Friday, April 19, 2013.

This orientation will be held to discuss the clinical shadowing/interview process as well as the process for the criminal background check. Final selection takes place at the end of May and admission status letters are mailed the first week of June.
