MRI Technologist Training Program

Program Overview

Program is nine months in length - three consecutive terms. Applications accepted March 1st - April 15th. Classes begin Fall Term. Applicants must be a currently credentialed Technologist in Radiography (ARRT), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Enrollment is limited and dependent on clinical site availability. Program involves didactic (classroom and on-line) sessions as well as clinical training hours.

Didactic classroom courses are offered in the evenings:

  • Tuesdays + Thursdays - Term 1 + Term 2
  • Thursdays only - Term 3

Clinical training hours in MRI are coordinated with the sponsoring clinical sites:

  • 18 hours/week - Term 1
  • 28 hours/week - Term 2 + Term 3

Term 1 – 10 credit hours:

  • MRI 101: MR Physics I – Principles, Equipment + Safety (2)
  • MRI 111: MR Cross-Sectional Anatomy I (2)
  • MRI 121: MR Clinical Education I (6)

Term 2 – 11 credit hours:

  • MRI 102: MR Physics II – Advanced Principles (2)
  • MRI 112: MR Cross-Sectional Anatomy II (1)
  • MRI 122: MR Clinical Education II (8)

Term 3 – 11 credit hours:

  • MRI 130: MR Imaging Procedures + Diagnosis (2)
  • MRI 140: MR Registry Review (1)
  • MRI 123: MR Clinical Education III (8)

Total Credit Hours = 32
