The Medical Laboratory Technician program has a talented and dedicated staff, most of whom are graduates of the program. The MLT staff participates in a wide variety of activities within the college and professional community. In 2005, the program earned a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant to develop and implement the first and only clinical laboratory science distance-learning program in the state. The faculty participates in continuing education and maintains connections with the local clinical laboratory community. One faculty member is a past president of the ASCLS-Oregon and received the President's Outstanding Service Award as well as the Member of the Year award. He also served on national boards and committees and received awards at the national level for his work in the area of membership development and as editor of the state's clinical laboratory newsletter.
