Lactation Consultant Certificate

The Lactation Consultant Certificate prepares students with all of the lactation specific training components required to become an IBCLC. It includes one term of the 90 contact hours of lactation education coursework (face-to-face and distance learning) plus three terms of supervised clinical experience. Students who complete the certificate program will qualify to take the IBLCE exam under Pathway 2.

The application deadline for the Lactation Consultant Certificate has passed. We will be accepting applications again Winter 2015. 

Application timeline

  • Dec 8, 2014: LECP Office begins accepting applications
  • Jan. 5, 2015: Complete applications and materials are due in the LECP office by 5pm
  • Late Jan. 2015: Applicants notified of in-person interview invitation
  • Mid Feb. 2015: Applicant Interviews held at PCC Rock Creek Campus
  • Late Feb. 2015 to early March 2015: Interview participants notified of final admission status
  • Late Mar. 2015: Mandatory orientation for applicants selected for the second tier of the selection process
  • Spring term 2015: PCC LECP classes begin

  • The application and all associated documentation must be submitted to the LECP Office by the deadline listed above. Items must be postmarked by the deadline.
  • Faxed, e-mailed, incomplete or scanned applications will not be accepted.
