Histories of Engineering
"Never in history have there been more advances in engineering and technology than in the years since the early 1960s. Each major breakthrough has represented a significant contribution to our technology base, and to human welfare. Many of these engineering achievements remain poorly documented, however. In order to ensure the continued development and appropriate use of technology, we must understand the nature of these advances and how they came about.
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, have formed a consortium to pilot the use of the World Wide Web to locate, preserve, and expand access to historical documentation of engineering and technology." www.historiesofengineering.org/
