Dental Laboratory Technology - Program Overview

dental lab tech students

To become a dental lab technician, one should complete a two year course of study in an accredited program. PCC has a fully accredited Dental Lab Technology program by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

The curriculum is offered during the daytime hours between 8am and 5pm for first-year students, and moves into the late afternoon and evening hours for second-year students. This schedule allows advanced students to work in entry-level positions part-time while going to school. Students also have the advantage of working with practicing dental technicians in the advanced labs which are held in the evenings.

Program Costs

These costs are approximate and based on 2013-2014 academic year figures.

If you are interested in preparing to be a denturist, contact the director of the Dental Sciences Department for more information at 971-722-4235. Please note, as of July 1, 2014, Oregon Law requires denturist students to complete a criminal background check and drug screening. The estimated cost is $85.

While it is recommended students interested in the Denturist program take both the first and second year, they are only required to complete the first year of study. Contact the Oregon Health Division, Board of Denture Technology, at 1-800-422-6012 for denturist licensure information and course requirements.
