What will I do on the job?

As an office employee, administrative assistant, or office manager, you will have a variety of responsibilities. Some of your activities may include computers, accounting, telephones, filing and information management, supervising office employees, greeting the public, planning and scheduling.

What skills will I use on the job?

PCC’s computer applications and office systems program emphasizes the following skills: business computer applications, presentation graphics, e-mail, oral and written communications, editing and proofreading, general accounting, filing and records management, word processing applications, spreadsheets, database, desktop publishing, human relations and web site creation and maintenance.

How much can I earn?

Approximate annual salaries in the Portland area:

  • One-year certificate: $22,000 – $25,000
  • Two-year degree, Administrative Assistant: $25,000 – $30,000
  • Two-year degree, Administrative Assistant Office Management: $26,000 – $32,000
