As a General Motors automotive service technician, you will inspect, test, diagnose, repair and supervise the repair of mechanical and electrical systems on automobiles and light trucks. Future career opportunities include: parts and service representatives, shop foreman and parts and service managers.

What skills will I use on the job?

A General Motors automotive technician is a skilled member of a respected trade. The technician’s responsibilities will vary depending on dealership size. Responsibilities can include vehicle electrical diagnosis, hydraulic diagnosis, mechanical diagnosis, system repair and vehicle maintenance.

How much can I earn?

Approximate entry-level hourly wage while in ASEP is $10 an hour. The ability to earn while you learn makes ASEP a unique opportunity to further your automotive career. 2 years in ASEP costs around $12,000 and as a student you can earn around $14,000 per year while in school! The average wage made by graduating ASEP students is approximately $30,000 per year. Journeyman level technicians make around $60,000 to $100,000 per year.
