PCC Prep Administrative Staff Profiles
Pam Blumenthal - Interim Director of PCC Prep Alternative Programs- I believe in possibilities and the power of change. In the four years I have worked for PCC Prep I have witnessed students making amazing changes in their lives and re-writing their stories. Many come in feeling that this is their last chance for academic and personal success. In the supportive and positive environment of PCC Prep students can thrive and develop into mature young adults ready to take the next steps in their lives.
Jeff Laff - Manager of Multicultural Academic Program- I wanted to be part of MAP because of the opportunity to help make a difference for immigrant students who find themselves in challenging life circumstances. Helping students develop English language skills is an important step on the path to achieving the American Dream.
Slava Scott - Interim Manager of Gateway to College and YES! Programs- I feel honored to be part of a profession where I get to impact the lives of many students. Education is a lifelong endeavor, and I believe that all students can achieve their full potential as they follow their educational path if they are given the quality instruction and a wrap around support. I sincerely believe in the ability of all students to learn, grow, and advance, and that conviction makes me work even harder to see PCC Prep students be as successful as possible.
Jana Daugherty - Outreach & Intake Coordinator- I love working with the PCC Prep programs because I get to meet the most amazing students. I have seen students come into our programs, overcome huge barriers and accomplish their goals. I am inspired every day by our students. Emma Zwaschka - MAP Community Resource Specialist- I have the benefit of being a part of the program, which values multicultural awareness and respect for diversity. The program responds to the community’s needs by providing educational and support services to a diverse population. I enjoy working in a community college environment with multicultural staff and students that reflects the diverse country we live in.
Mahmoud El-Gohary - Data Analyst- I believe that education provides great value to individuals, to the communities where they live and work, and to the society in general. There is considerable evidence that individuals with more education enjoy greater opportunities and better economic and personal well being.
Lieu Nguyen - Administrative Assistant- I have been with PCC Prep for almost 9 years and I enjoy helping students navigate their way into and through our programs. I have seen many students navigate their way into and through our programs. I have seen many students come in with language barriers and have enjoyed seeing their many successes, whether it’s small day to day lessons or receiving their GED’s or High School Diplomas. These are great programs that have helped many students get on track to fulfill their dreams.
Oanh Quan - Lab Technician- As a Lab Tech currently working part-time for PCC Prep Alternative Programs
almost 10 years, I understand this program is very useful, serving and
giving youth ages 16-21 a second chance to finish High School and transition
to College. With degrees in CIS, Graphic Design, and years of experience, I
enjoy working, supporting, and contributing to this program with my efforts
to help all students achieve their goals.
Debbie Reed - Academic Services Specialist- I’m the newest edition to the team and feel completely fortunate to have the opportunity to work for such a unique program. Before I started working here, I didn’t know that the programs we offer were available and an option for our communities out-of-school youth and struggling students. It is a pretty amazing thing to be in a position in which I get to be a change agent in our students lives and young academic careers.
Sue Thurman - Contracts Coordinator- I have really enjoyed interacting with our students and watching them grow. This is a great program with many opportunities that at-risk youth can and should take advantage of.
Anh Tran - Instructional Support Tech.- In more than 10 years with PCC Prep Programs, I have seen an increase in our students' successes and the quality of our services which makes me very happy and proud. Thanks to all our administrators and instructors who have worked hard to make a real difference in young peoples’ futures.
