Scholarships
The Society for Women Engineers Columbia River scholarship application is due Mach 31st. See their website for more information.
Please check the Scholarships website for information on many more private and public scholarships.
Mechanical Engineering students learn to use math, science and communications to solve real life problems in climate control systems, manufacturing, and improving energy efficiency. Students develop drafting skills by using computer-aided drafting software (AutoCAD) and learn to work in teams to solve problems. PCC's small classes and support systems help you succeed. Courses are transferable to OIT in Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology at either the Klamath Falls or Portland Metro site.
Not sure what area of engineering you are interested in? Take ENGR100: Exploring Engineering.
Associate of Applied Science
An AAS generally takes a minimum of 6 terms (18 months or 2 academic years) as a full time student to complete.
One Year Certificate
A one year certificate generally takes a minimum of 4 terms (12 months or 1 1/3 academic years) as a full time student to complete.
University Transfer
Portland Community College offers freshman and sophomore course work in chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, manufacturing and mechanical engineering tailored to the needs of students transferring to a four year institution. See General Engineering: University Transfer for more information.
Why PCC?
Most people know that community college costs are low and that classes are offered at convenient times and locations, but many aren't aware of the high quality of our instructors, labs, and student support services.
In additional to their academic backgrounds, all our engineering faculty have practical experience working for high tech manufacturers, consulting engineering firms, government agencies, and other "real world" employers. And that brings the "real world" right into the classroom. We also offer outstanding laboratory facilities and a wide array of student support services to help our students succeed.
