Library and Media Center Assisting

Education Paraprofessional with a Library and Media Assistant Endorsement, One-year Certificate
    45 credits

Many of the library courses can be used for teacher relicensing.

Cascade Campus

You will be helping people in different types of libraries and media centers. Duties may include helping library patrons find materials, working on the circulation desk, checking materials in and out of the library, producing materials on computers, developing signs and posters using computer graphics, answering reference questions, operating various film projectors, doing computer on-line information searching, telling stories to young children, and operating video tape equipment.

Some of the skills used on the job are library operation, media production, reference work, using audio visual equipment, using computers for searching, circulation, and graphic production.

Library and media assistants are hired by local school districts, public libraries, private libraries, and community colleges.
