Teacher Transfer
Associate of Arts Degree
99 credits
Cascade Campus
Teaching is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging careers you can choose. Teachers make a difference in the lives of students - to help them learn to read, solve a math problem or discover how plants grow. Elementary and middle school instructors introduce students to language, science, numbers and social studies.
Teachers have much influence on what students learn and experience during their early years. This learning helps shape young students' views of themselves and the world around them. These critical early educational experiences can affect a student's later success or failure in schools, work or in their personal lives.
Teachers work with students in specific subject areas, organize and manage a classroom, assess students, and interact with parents and the community. In addition to classroom time, teachers prepare lessons, grade papers and continue to learn through professional development activities. They use computers, games, music, films, slides, field trips and other tools to teach important life-long skills.
Overall employment of kindergarten, elementary, middle and secondary school teachers is expected to increase over the next decade to replace an aging teaching workforce. Science and math teachers will be in great demand.
