"Implementing CAM, Credit for Proficiency and New High School Graduation Requirements through Professional Technical Education"

At the January 12, 2005, meeting of the PAVTEC Representative Council, Dennis Mattoon made this presentation. Many in attendance asked to have access to it to which he graciously consented. Click on the link above to view it. The first four and last three slides (with a green background) are designed to introduce and summarize the presentation to adults. He uses the slides in between (with blue background) to help his students understand the Certificate of Advanced Mastery (CAM) and how it applies to his classes.

Dennis has been a teacher at Reynolds High School for over 15 years. Reynolds High School is a pilot site and pioneer for many of the high school reform initiatives including credit for proficiency, new diploma requirements, career pathways, career related learning standards, etc. He has been very personally involved in each. His presentation deals more with the teacher application of these initiatives rather than the administrative organizational structural elements.

We are grateful to Dennis for his sharing of this document.

This prestigious honor comes as a result of being nominated by his peers across the state not only for his work with students but also for his work educating educators so they can be better prepared to teach technology in their own schools.

"Don will be honored for his accomplishments at a Gala Dinner Benefit sponsored by the SAO on October 9 at which time he will receive a check for $1000 to be used as he chooses!"
