This year's keynote speaker is Lupita Maurer, software design engineer at Tektronix. She'll discuss how students can have fun with software and explore how it is written and developed.

Gels in your Daily Life
This will be a hands-on activity which explores the role of gels in your daily life....from super absorbent polymers (SAP) in baby diapers, to making gel beads which could be used to entrap cells in the design of an artificial pancreas or algae in a bioreactor to make pharmaceuticals.

Managing our Public Parks
I will discuss the various aspects of managing urban greenspaces, including working with the public, education, natural area planning and restoration. I will also highlight many volunteer opportunities available through Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District. These opportunities, if taken, build great resumes for those girls looking at careers within the field of Natural Resource Management.
