Keynote Speaker: Celeste
Baine
Celeste grew up in El Cerrito, California, where
she was a class President, Vice-President, and
Captain of her high school volleyball team. She
has a longtime interest in engineering including
thrill rides at amusement parks, “Imagineering,”
and Biomedical Engineering. She has authored
several books related to the career of
engineering including “Is there an Engineer in
You?” and “The Fantastical Engineer: A
Thrillseeker’s Guide to Careers in Theme Park
Engineering.”
Celeste currently edits and publishes the
Pre-Engineering Times and gives presentations
and workshops on engineering careers. She is the
Director of Integrated Technology for The Center
for Applied Teaching and Learning to Yield
Scientific Thinking (CATALyST), Project LIFE and
C3 at Louisiana Tech University. CATALyST,
Project LIFE and C3 all teach K-12 science
teachers how to better teach and open kids to
the wonders of science.
She operates the Engineering Education Service
Center (EESC) in Eugene, OR.

EESC is a new company designed to provide
the best in engineering education through
publications, workshops, presentations and
consultations. It includes a publishing company
that delivers high quality pre-engineering
titles. It is dedicated to the advancement of
the engineering profession.
