PCC and HS Career & Technical Education
Connections Team Meetings
PAVTEC coordinates a
variety of connections events, examples of which
are the 2001 Connections Forum and the 2002
Connections Teams Meetings.
The Forum was in response
to an expressed need by professional technical
educators at both the high school and Portland
Community College levels to have an opportunity
to interact with each other about next steps for
students, curriculum, and industry updates. Most importantly however, to establish connections between
the two levels and create contacts inside and
outside their program areas.
The Connections Teams
Meetings are as a result of the Connections
Forum. With
the Team meetings organized by subject area,
they allow for very detailed, specific content
to be covered.
As a benefit to the instructors, they can
take back to their classrooms the latest
information and share with their students,
better preparing them for their next steps.
The Connections Teams
meetings provide an opportunity for all
participating high school and community college
instructors to come together where they can:
share promising practices, share program
information, student “profiles”, course
content information, familiarize themselves with
skill sets/expectations of businesses/employers,
and the latest information on the labor market
(base/projection).
It’s also an opportunity for educators
to gather information relating to the Oregon
Department of Education PTE Program Quality
Assurance Plan as well as discuss potential dual
credit opportunities. |
